Our Work

Think about investing thousands of dollars in a clean water project in a rural village only to find out that the locals continue using their existing water sources (e.g., wells) for cooking and drinking needs while using the project-funded “clean” (tap) water for laundry and other household cleaning purposes! No doubt, the project is not being used for the right purpose and would unlikely yield its intended outcomes. It’s hard to argue against implementing such an important project that has tremendous health benefits like reducing the risk of water-borne diseases. However, if the locals are not using the project for its intended purpose, one can assume that either they were not consulted/involved in the process from the beginning, or it simply wasn’t their top priority. How do we make sure that we are delivering the right development projects to the communities we are helping? This is the disconnect that Hirondelle Magazine strives to close.
